Bureau County Retired Teachers Association
Bureau County Retired Teachers Association is a local branch of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association made up of retired Illinois public school teachers and administrators who live in Bureau County.
We meet to maintain social ties, to be informed about member and pension benefits, and to advocate to protect our pensions. We are the most powerful organization providing protection for retired teachers in Illinois.
After joining IRTA ($3.50/month), you have the option of joining your local unit. For $10 per year, you support local programming and representation at the state biennial convention and state committees.
NOTE: Active teachers receive up to four years FREE membership until January 1 following their retirement.

Helen Kennedy Scholarship Announced
In 2023 two new IRTA Foundation Scholarships have been established. The Helen Kennedy Scholarship awards $2,000 to an incoming sophomore, junior, or senior in college. The student must be enrolled in an accredited teacher education program and a graduate of an Illinois High School.
This very generous donation was made in memory of former educator Helen Kennedy, formerly of Tiskilwa, Illinois. She attended Tiskilwa High School and graduated in 1957. She received her Bachelor's Degree from ISU and Master's Degree from University of Illinois. She taught elementary school in Kenosha, Wisconsin and later returned home to participate in the family farm. Helen was active in her community and church. She facilitated numerous church and community enrichments. |
