The IRTA Foundation awards six $2,000 IFTAF Educators Scholarships in each of the IRTA Areas of the state to incoming college juniors or seniors (before entering the junior or senior year) that are pursuing a degree in education. The IRTA Foundation also provides a total of $36,000 in grant money to classroom teachers for enhancements to their classrooms. IRTAF Excellence in Education Grants are available to Illinois public school teachers (pre-K through 12, excluding Chicago Public School employees) to provide special learning opportunities for their students. The funds are not intended to provide regular curricular materials. The IRTA Foundation also provides IRTAF Financial Assistance to retired Illinois public school educators who are living in times of acute financial stress.
